Lausanne/Essen, 24 July 2025 – Reshape Systems SA, a spin-off from the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN), has announced the successful closing of an oversubscribed CHF800,000 pre-seed funding round, underscoring the unique value the company brings to industrial risk analysis with its advanced AI-driven solutions. The round was led by Backbone Ventures joined by Heartfelt, GF BRYCK Ventures (by Gründerfonds Ruhr and BRYCK), Kyle Kosic (xAI co-founder, now at OpenAI) and N&V Capital.
Today, companies are under pressure to deliver increasingly complex products in shorter timeframes, while navigating supply chain disruptions and high staff turnover, factors that intensify the challenges related to risk analysis and certification processes. With over a decade of expertise in designing safety-critical systems and a foundation deeply rooted in research excellence at CERN, Reshape Systems integrates the latest AI technologies to meet the evolving demands of modern industry.
Reshape Systems’ platform helps companies reduce engineering costs, improve knowledge management, and accelerate time-to-market for new products, all while maintaining the highest safety and reliability standards.
“This investment represents a pivotal point in Reshape Systems’ growth, allowing us to expand our team and scale up the development and adoption of our risk analysis platform,” said Dr. Andrea Apollonio, Co-founder and CEO of Reshape Systems, who holds a PhD specializing in risk analysis methods for particle accelerators and has held various leadership roles at CERN over the last decade.
“In high-stakes industrial environments – such as automotive, aerospace, nuclear, and manufacturing – trust and transparency are essential. We are committed to providing explainable, user-supervised AI solutions that give decision-makers the confidence to safely innovate, reduce risk, and ensure operational continuity,” said Dr. Thomas Cartier-Michaud (Co-founder and CTO), a PhD in plasma physics and AI expert who brings R&D experience from both major research institutions and the health-tech startup sector.
